During World War II, the United States Government issued a number of posters encouraging domestic workers to aid the war effort by increasing their production. This bold and well executed image very effectively stresses how teamwork and unity in the workplace leads to greater productivity.
The artist of this poster is David Stone Martin (1912-1992). He was a classically trained graphic artist who attended the Art Institute of Chicago. During World War II he created a small group of posters for the United States Government and this is by far the most admired of those images. He later became best known for his extensive work designing album covers for the record industry.
