There are few images, if any, that are more symbolic of the music and spirit of the 1960's in America than this image created hastily by Arnold Skolnick to promote the Woodstock Music Festival in August, 1969. The 3 Days of Peace & Music was moved to the Yazgur Farms at a late point and that necessitated this new design by Skolnick. It is said that the attendance was upwards of 500,000 despite the obstacles in reaching Woodstock and the weather conditions which were unfavorable throughout most of the 3 days. Some of the featured performers were Richie Havens, Joan Baez, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, The Who, Joe Cocker, and Jimi Hendrix.You can read more about this poster and see a video with Gallery owner Mickey Ross here:
