The image of the "Bloodthirsty Hun" was one of the major themes in American World War I propaganda posters. Here, one such German soldier glowers at us across the Atlantic Ocean, his bloody bayonet and hands giving way to a burning village underneath him. The message here is clear - buying war savings stamps directly protects the American public from a German invasion.
Frederick Strothmann (1872-1958) was an American artist who predominantly created commercial advertising over the course of his career, along with book illustrations. This poster is the only war image we were able to locate by him.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. There are minor traces of soiling in the margins that do not affect the image. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
