Carcassonne is a French city that is renowned for its ancient fortifications that surround the village. It rests along an cross-section of ancient trade routes that connect the Mediterranean with the Pyrenees Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, and it can trace its history back to the Neolithic Era. Its impressive citadel, shown here piercing the sunse-golden sky, dates back to the 1100s. Please note that the impressive luminosity of this poster is due to the impressive use of gilded inks.
Chemin de Fer de d'Orleans et du Midi was an early French railway company that was founded in 1838.
Champseix was one of a group of commercial artists who specialized in travel poster art during the 1920's as the rail lines were expanding rapidly throughout France after World War I. While he created many poster images throughout his career, there is surprisingly little biographical information to be found about him.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
