William Auerbach-Levy was an American artist who was best known for is caricatures. He wrote several books on the art of caricature and his renderings of celebrities and theatrical personalities appeared in "The New Yorker," "Vanity Fair" and "American Heritage." This vintage poster is part of a series commemorating an exhibition of his theater-themed drawings at The Museum of the City of New York in 1977. It features Ed Wynn, a comedic actor who got his start in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1914. He had a popular radio show in the 1930s. Wynn went on to write, direct, and produce a number of Broadway shows in the subsequent decades, and was the voice of the Mad Hatter in the Disney animated classic, "Alice in Wonderland."
