This is quite the intriguing poster! Created for a play entitled, "Cocaine", it features a goblin representing the drug, lurching over the hill of Montmartre in Paris. He leers down at a woman addicted to the drug, as a band leers and taunts the victim. The Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur cathedral frame the flanks of the image. Paris in the 1920s was full of vice, and while Cocaine was legal in France at the time it did already have a stigma attached to it.
Rene Gaillard created several posters from the 1920s - 1950s, but unfortunately there is little biographical information on the artist.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.
We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
