Bullfighting is a traditional event in Spain that features a charging bull and a well-dressed matador. Historically, the bullfight was the main spectator sport in Spain with a large number of famous matadors reigning as national heroes. Many of those who visit Spain make it a point to see at least one bullfight fiesta during their stay. This particular image was created by the artist, J Reus, and it colorfully depicts a golden-clad matador taunting a large bull by the waving a bright pink cape.
The text at the bottom portion of the poster reads "Espagne - Courses De Taureaux" which is French for "Spain - Bullfighting". There are many versions of this poster that feature the same central image, but use different text in an effort to garner visitors to the European country.
The artist J. Reus is known to have created many other posters depicting bullfights but little is known about him.
