The Exposition de Blanc image was created by the French artist, Henri Thiriet (1866 - 1897) and printed in 1898. A La Place Clichy was a Department Store located at the intersection of Rues d'Amsterdam and St. Petersbourg in Paris. The store promoted itself in its early advertising as a merchant with great values for its clients. This particular image was designed to publicize an exposition of linens and tablecloths, i.e. a White Sale. In it we see the elegant shopper being shown a part of the selection available at A La Place Clichy. The horizontal format of this poster makes it even more attractive in today's decorating style.
