The Hamburg-Amerika Linie [Line] was a transatlantic shipping enterprise established in Hamburg, Germany in 1847 and it operated through 1970. This c1935 poster promotes travel "to East Asia" and features a woman looking out towards Japan's famed Mount Fuji. It was printed with silver foil accents and it highlights the details in the artwork.

Before the First World War, the Hamburg-America Line was one of the largest fleets of commercial ships in the world. With so many of its ships damaged in the war years, Hapag (as it is also known) rebuilt its fleet in the '20s and '30s with sturdier, more efficient vessels that would help it re-brand as a company that was reliable and steady to sail with.

Albert Fuss (1898-1969) worked almost extensively for Hamburg-America and created copious posters for the company. His style is often focused on simplicity with elements of charm. Most of his posters were created during the interwar years.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
