This is a delightful decorative panel in which we see a crowded cafe's female clientele twirl each other around the dance floor. This was a common practice at the turn of the century, and much more modest of an activity than dancing with a strange man. Although primarily a painter, Truchet created a few illustrations like this one which were turned into prints, finding inspiration within the gas-lit halls of Montmartre's cafe society.
