This poster was created by Porsche to celebrate Peter Gregg's win at the 1973 Trans-Am Champion car race. Gregg won racing a Porsche Carrera, one of the company's signature racing models. This Trans-Am race was held in Atlanta,Georgia and signaled the beginning of the end of the muscle car era in America due to the 1973 gas crisis. Peter Gregg (1940-1980) was a multi-championship winning race car driver, and became an icon of the American muscle car era.

Ferdinand Porsche began his famed automotive business in Germany in 1931, and it originally started as a parts manufacturer that supplied Volkswagen. During WWII, Porsche created military tanks and supplies. It was not until 1948 that Porsche produced its first sportscar. Ever since, Porsche has been known on the racing circuit as well as a high performance sports and luxury car for the consumer markets.
