Thorens Record Player
Thorens Record Player
(48cm x 69cm)
Setting the mood with great music is an important part of a date night or party at home, as illustrated in this charming poster for Thorens turntables. A well-dressed man crouches down, record in hand, as he asks the woman for her approval. She, in turn, smiles as she finishes putting on her earrings.
Thorens is a Swiss-based company that has always specialized in record players. The company was founded in 1883 and originally produced phonographs and clock movements. Thorens is still in the business of making turntables today.
Paul-Andre Perret (1919-2018) was a Swiss cartoonist and illustrator. He created many whimsical posters over the years, predominantly for Swiss brands such as Omega.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
