This vibrant poster, created by LeRoy Neiman (1921–2012), captures the electricity of one of boxing’s greatest events—the legendary “Thrilla in Manila” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, held in the Philippines on September 30, 1975. Neiman’s signature style, with its explosive brushstrokes and vivid colors, conveys the intensity, motion, and raw energy of the fighters as they faced off in what would become one of the most celebrated bouts in boxing history. The bold typography framing the image reinforces the epic scale of the event: “The Saga of Our Lifetime. ”LeRoy Neiman was one of America’s most recognized artists of the 20th century, celebrated for his dynamic depictions of sports and celebrity culture. From the 1960s onward, his expressionist portraits of athletes, musicians, and entertainers made him a cultural icon in his own right. His work distilled not just likeness, but the spirit and spectacle of the moment. Muhammad Ali (1942–2016), born Cassius Clay, was one of the greatest and most charismatic boxers in history. A three-time world heavyweight champion, Ali was known not only for his extraordinary skill and resilience in the ring but also for his outspoken personality, wit, and activism. His bouts with Joe Frazier were among the most famous in sporting history. Joe Frazier (1944–2011), nicknamed “Smokin’ Joe,” was the Olympic heavyweight champion in 1964 and the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1970 to 1973. Renowned for his relentless pressure and powerful left hook, Frazier was the perfect rival to Ali’s speed and style. Their trilogy of fights, culminating in the “Thrilla in Manila,” stands as one of boxing’s most dramatic rivalries. This is an Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction.
