Victory Is A Question Of Stamina

This First World War poster was created by the United States Food Administration to advocate for conservation of food resources for overseas allies and encourage the idea of eating more locally grown vegetables and fruits. It depicts two soldiers in full gear running through snow with their bayonets drawn. The message is clear that the troops need all their strength from their food supplies to wing their battles. Conservation of food on the home front was essential for having adequate supplies for the soldiers overseas.

The poster was created by Harvey Dunn (1884-1952) who was one of 7 poster artists who were designated by General George Pershing to have free access to the troops on the front lines of battle. The goal was to realize the most accurate depictions of the fighting soldiers and Dunn accomplished this in this image.
